Assault and Cover-up
New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the indictment of staff at Fulton Commons Care Center, Inc. (Fulton Commons) for covering up the sexual assault of a vulnerable adult.
“The charges against Daniel Persaud and Carol Frawley are disturbing and appalling, and that those tasked with the care of our most vulnerable could cause such harm violates the trust New Yorkers are expected to have in nursing homes. Fulton Commons, Frawley, and Persaud allegedly committed horrific abuses against a resident and knowingly hid those actions. These heinous crimes will not go unchecked — and my office will ensure these individuals are held accountable.”
—Attorney General James.
Daniel Persaud was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Fulton Commons. Police charged him with sexually assaulting a resident. A Grand Jury charged Daniel Persaud with Sexual Abuse for acts committed against a female resident.
Carol Frawley was the Director of Nursing. Police charged her with multiple counts of falsifying business records. They also say she failed to report the abuse. The Indictment alleges that Carol Frawley intentionally lied on records, and failed to report complaints as required by law.
Why would she not investigate? Why not report even suspected abuse or neglect?
Attorney General James encourages anyone with information or concerns about nursing home conditions to file confidential complaints online or call the hotline at (833) 249-8499.
Of course, the charges in this case are merely accusations. The defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We look forward to seeing what the trial reveals. Horrific situation.
