Abuser Arrested
WPDE reported another South Carolina nursing home employee has been arrested and charged with abusing a vulnerable adult. How can this continue to happen? Where is the training and supervision?
Police booked Lottie M. Henderson into the Chesterfield County Detention Center. The South Carolina Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (SCMFCU) discovered that Henderson inflicted physical abuse at Cheraw Healthcare Incorporated while working as a certified nursing assistant. Henderson allegedly intentionally wrapped the victim’s head and face with clothing to restrict the victim’s movement. She pushed the victim’s head into the bed and pinned the victim’s arms under the defendant’s knees and body to subdue the victim’s movement.
Additionally, on three separate occasions, Henderson sprayed the victim’s head, face and body with an aerosol deodorant in order to control the victim’s movement, pushed the victim’s head into a bed, and pinned the victim’s arms under the defendant’s knees and body to subdue and restrict the victim’s movement.
Burnout and turnover often cause frustration and abuse.
