Nursing Homes Agree to Pay $3.61M to Resolve False Claims Act Liability
The Justice Department announced a False Claims Act settlement. On June 3rd, the US Department of Justice announced that the American Health
Foundation (AHF), its affiliate AHF Management Corp, and the 3 affiliated nursing homes agreed to pay $3.61 million to resolve allegations under the False Claims Act.
The settlement addresses claims that between 2016 and 2018, these facilities, Cheltenham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia, The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place in Dayton, Ohio, and Samaritan Care Center and Villa in Medina, Ohio, billed Medicare and Medicaid for substandard skilled nursing services.
Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brenna Jenny emphasized the importance of nursing homes providing quality care and treating residents with proper care and respect. She stated that the Department of Justice will not tolerate facilities that neglect these responsibilities. This case highlights the federal government’s commitment to holding healthcare providers accountable for the quality of care delivered to those in vulnerable positions in nursing homes.
