Never Forget!

This is a solemn day. We owe a debt to the first responders of 9-11.  We will never forget. Trump apparently has. He lack of respect for military personnel extends to first responders.

The Daily News learned that the Trump administration has secretly siphoned $4 million away from a program that treats FDNY firefighters and medics suffering from 9/11 related illnesses. The Treasury Department mysteriously withheld payments four years ago. The payments cover medical services for firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics treated by the FDNY World Trade Center Health Program.

Newsday discovered that a high percentage of the 9/11 health conditions are respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD and interstitial lung disease. COVID-19 attacks that same organ, saving its most deadly consequences for victims with weakened immune systems. This includes those going through chemotherapy.  “Everyone in the 9/11 community is looking over their shoulder wondering when they will get a 9/11 cancer,” said John Feal. Feal was a demolition supervisor at Ground Zero. He spent 11 weeks in the hospital. A part of his foot amputated after a 4-ton steel beam fell on his left foot. “Now they’re looking over their shoulder wondering if they are going to get COVID-19.”
