Criminal Overmedication

Jennifer Lynn Reavis pleaded no contest to purposely overmedicating a resident of Twin Oaks Health and Rehab Center nursing home. Lansing Police Department investigated in 2019 after Reavis gave a resident of the facility evening and bedtime medications at the same time. Reavis also administered the resident Ativan and Benadryl. Neither were prescribed or part of the resident’s schedule of medications.

The charges of endangerment, unlawful administration of a controlled substance and battery are only misdemeanors. Court records indicate Reavis previously faced a felony charge of mistreatment of a dependent adult in the case. Why did the facility hire her?

Reavis reportedly sent a text message that included a photograph of the resident slumped over in a wheelchair. The person appeared unconscious. The image was accompanied by the message, “Your welcome! I hope she is asleep most of the day tomorrow.”

The resident began vomiting and became lethargic after receiving the medication. The person was taken to the hospital. I hope they recovered without any permanent damage.
