Unqualified Caregivers

The U.S. Department of Justice charged 25 Floridians a wire fraud scheme that created illegal licenses and employment shortcuts to supply unqualified caregivers to nursing homes throughout the southeast including South Carolina. The defendants “engaged in a scheme to sell fraudulent nursing degree diplomas and transcripts obtained from accredited Florida-based nursing schools.”

Felony Documentation

The falsification of documentation in nursing homes is prevalent. The chart is under the control and sole possession of the nursing home. Unsafe Staffing Fine

North Carolina’s MyFox8 reported that Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Thomasville paid a reduced fine for unsafe staffing.  100 patients only had three caregivers in January of 2022.
