Business Office Manager Sentenced
Keisha Carroll Banks pleaded guilty to wire fraud at a nursing home in Fairfield County. Banks worked for Ridgeway Manor Healthcare from July 2021 through November 2021. Banks was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison.
According to the federal file, in her role as office manager, Banks had access to residents’ petty cash accounts. These accounts were designed to pay the small purchases and living expenses of residents.
Per the indictment, Banks would write checks from the petty cash accounts and authorize and deposit them into accounts that she controlled. The banks would use the funds wired to make payments on credit cards, auto loan rental houses, and purchases on Amazon and PayPal.
Banks would provide false information on record for what the petty cash was used for and how the resident benefited. Banks were ordered to pay more than $58,000 in restitution.
Banks also worked as the Human Resource Director at Wildewood Downs, a retirement community in Columbia, from 2022 until 2024.
Wildewood Downs and Ridgeway Manor Healthcare have yet to respond to comments from WIS News 10.
