Vaccine Effectiveness

McKnight’s reported how effective the vaccine has been for nursing home residents. The rate of COVID deaths and reported cases have declined dramatically because of the vaccines.  Prioritizing residents and staff was a great decision.

“It’s really hard to put into words how well this vaccine works. There were very few side effects with these shots and the results speak for themselves,” AHCA lobbyist said. “In most facilities right now, absolutely no COVID.”

Vaccine acceptance by staff is still a problem.  Staff acceptance is only about 40%. Last week, AHCA and LeadingAge set a target of getting 75% of staff vaccinated by June 30.

More than 70 million Americans have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine so far. Additionally, more than 40 million Americans are fully vaccinated. The United States reached a single-day record of 3 million shots recently.
