Propaganda for Bill 244

South Carolina Republicans and the insurance lobbyists are spending millions on misleading advertisements to counter a grass roots uprising opposing Senate Bill 244, a proposal that provides a windfall to insurance companies and takes away citizen’s rights. Lawmakers shall debate the bill next week. Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey is a key proponent but he is facing scrutiny over his past work with the insurance industry.

The new bill aims to protect negligent actors in insurance, construction, and bars that over pour. Supporters, including lobbyists, claim without evidence that the bill will help reduce insurance rates. Of course, insurance profits are at an all time high, and the insurance companies admitted that premiums will not go down as a result of this proposal.

The bill has faced opposition from consumer advocates and legal experts who claim the bill solely benefits insurance companies at the expense of consumers.

The social media blitz against the bill has included posts from influencers and political figures including Donald Trump Jr.
