Mandate Safety

DHEC reported that more people are hospitalized in South Carolina from the coronavirus than at any point since the virus hit last March. The percent of positive tests (12%) continues to show the virus is spreading in the state. The CDC have said that the percent positive should be 5% for the virus to slow. Half of South Carolina refuse to take the vaccine placing unvaccinated people at risk for death including our children.

Our country’s vaccination rate ranks last among the Group of 7 nations for the percentage of its population that has received at least one dose. Misinformation and ignorance is spreading faster than the truth. The truth is vaccines are safe and effective.

The Supreme Court upheld a local health board’s decision to mandate smallpox vaccinations in Jacobson v. Massachusetts (1905). And states routinely require nearly all school-age children to receive a long list of vaccines. Biden now allows employers to require vaccinations as a condition of employment. However, it is not actually a mandate because employees can choose to get tested weekly instead.

“The Department of Labor is developing an emergency rule to require all employers with 100 or more employees, that together employ over 80 million workers, to ensure their workforces are fully vaccinated or show a negative test at least once a week,” Biden announced.

Agencies that require Covid-19 vaccines have seen early success. However, nursing homes in South Carolina still allow unvaccinated caregivers access to vulnerable adults.
