Drug Addict on Duty
Nursing home employee Brian Kenny was arrested at Sunrise Manor nursing home after being caught on security camera smoking a “white substance.” next to a patient. Video footage reveals Kenny lighting up a pipe next to the patient and near oxygen tanks on the floor. The flame was so large that it set off the fire alarm and notified the family of trouble. One family member says,
“It was because of the flash that happened that we were told that there was a possible fire in the room.” The family called 911 after receiving an alert from the camera installed in the patient’s room.
Clermont County deputies, where the nursing home is located, took Kenny into custody. Kenny was charged with both drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business. According to investigators, Kenny was uncooperative and wouldn’t give information regarding identity.
Sunrise Manor used an agency that hired him who should have done the check, as Kenny was a contract employee.
One family member said,
“I don’t care if it was a cigarette. I don’t know if it was crack. I don’t care what it was. If you’re a nurse and you’ve done it as long as he supposedly has done it, you just don’t do that.”
After Kenny was searched and put into the cruiser, Kenny was found smoking a white substance inside said cruiser when deputies returned to the vehicle. According to the records, Kenny pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice. The white substance is still being tested.
