COVID Legacy on the Industry

Newsweek had an article explaining an ongoing problem in America. A growing number of nursing homes are shutting down across the US.  Unfortunately, the
rapid aging population is expected to double by 2030.  The closures cannot be solely caused by Trump’s COVID response and policies causing rising operational costs, staff shortages, regulatory challenges, and financial strain. All became much worse after Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Medicaid, which funds care for nearly two-thirds of nursing home residents, is now facing Trump’s proposed federal cuts of $880 billion, threatening to accelerate closures and create “nursing home deserts,” especially in rural areas. As demand for elder care rises, access is shrinking, leaving families with fewer options and increasing the risk of poor health outcomes for seniors.
