Nursing Home Companies Pay $15 Million for Healthcare Fraud

Two Pennsylvania nursing home operators, “Brighton Rehabilitation & Wellness Center” and “Mount Lebanon Rehabilitation & Wellness Center,” have been ordered to pay over $15 million in restitution after being convicted of healthcare fraud.

The facilities, managed by Comprehensive Healthcare Management Services, falsified staffing records to appear compliant with federal requirements, allowing them to continue receiving Medicare and Medicaid funds despite dangerously low staffing levels.

Families testified about the harm their loved ones suffered due to neglect, including unmonitored violence and poor care. Although the companies are in bankruptcy, the court ruled that financial hardship does not excuse fraud, emphasizing that nursing homes must prioritize resident care over profit.
