Minimum Staffing Rule Will Save 13,000 Lives Annually

A new analysis released shows that the recently finalized minimum staffing rule would save 13,000 lives annually. Despite the fact this rule will save 13,000 lives, the nursing homes industry continues to push to have the rule blocked. Some in Congress have introduced legislation and resolutions to block the rule.

Senator Elizabeth Warren announced the findings in a press statement. Senator Warren explained that in June she had written privately to researchers at Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania requesting they analyze the impact of the minimum staffing rule on nursing home resident mortality. In addition, the analysis estimated lives saved by state with TX, CA, PA, FL, OH, and NY expected to see the highest number of residents saved.

Take action now to tell your members of Congress to stand with nursing home residents and support the rule. It will save lives!
