Media reports a horrific assault captured on video. McDowell County Sheriff’s Office states a resident at Cedarbrook Residential assisted living facility. The assault caused severe head injuries. Det. Billie Brown said Jacob Douglas Carpenter, 40, is charged with first-degree attempted murder.

Brown said a female resident had been taken to the hospital with severe head injuries. The investigation uncovered video evidence of the assault. Resident to resident assault are known problem. It typically is caused by unsafe staffing levels and isolation.
