Chlorpyrifos Ban
The Biden administration announced the ban of chlorpyrifos on food. The dangerous pesticide causes neurological damage in children. The poison causes reduced IQ, loss of working memory, and attention deficit disorders. Chlorpyrifos is a neurotoxic pesticide in the organophosphates class of chemicals that were first developed by the Nazis for chemical warfare.
Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate pesticide. Big Ag indiscriminately sprays on crops, animals, and buildings to kill insects and worms. It acts on the nervous systems of insects. Dow Chemical Company patented chlorpyrifos in 1966.
Farmers apply the poison to corn, soybeans, apples, broccoli, asparagus and other produce. Acute poisoning can cause convulsions, respiratory paralysis, and, in some cases, death. Chlorpyrifos is one of the pesticides most often linked to pesticide poisonings.
The Environmental Protection Agency said it would publish regulations to block the use of the pesticide on food. It is a good start.
