Bleach Assault
The New Jersey Attorney General reported that a certified nurse’s aide at a Camden County nursing facility admitted assaulting a paralyzed elderly patient by spraying her in the face and eyes with bleach. Simone Goldsboro, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), sprayed bleach on the face and in the eyes of a 60-year-old paralyzed resident at a nursing facility in Camden County.
Goldsboro was charged with third-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree assault. The situation raises serious concerns about the safety of vulnerable residents, especially since they are supposed to trust these workers to show them the best care.
Goldsboro, not only made the cruel decision to walk away from the resident with intention to bring the bleach spray bottle back to use, but also knew the repercussions bleach has such as permanent blindness. This intentional act highlights the exploited trust residents put in their caregivers to ensure them with the utmost respect and safety.
