Dietary Services
Fox56 reported a sad story about a nursing home’s failure to provide nutritional assessment and dietary services including providing decent food. A resident at Mountain Top Rehabilitation lost significant weight in four weeks after a major surgery because the food the residents are being fed. A resident’s diet at a rehabilitation center is a major factor in their recovery and lifestyle as a whole. With this being said, they should be able to trust their providers to help support their recovery.
Donna Thornton, daughter of Barbara Brenner, expresses her concern for the food being served to residents and their nutritional value. Believing that there is negligence in the meal plans and that the food is not nourishing enough for the residents to meet their dietary requirements.
Not only has this resident brought this concern to light, but many other residents are also concerned about the food. After filing a complaint to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, they responded by saying that they are meeting the minimum standard of the state. After this complaint, meals were prepared better suited for the residents for a short time.
