Veteran Attacked

“He started complaining about a headache and about his arms and everything. My brother said that some person had attacked him and took his coat but they [nursing staff] did not believe him.”

-Edward Carr, the man’s brother, said.

Fox34 reported a horrific story of reckless indifference. An Army veteran’s family noticed bruises all over his arms and head while visiting last weekend.

How do you explain all the injuries?  Authorities discovered that the veteran’s death occurred after an attack at a nursing home hours before he died.

65-year-old John Carr died from injuries suffered in the assault.

Zoee Osterberg, John Carr’s niece, said:

“It’s just been so hard. How could somebody allow this to happen to him? Where were all the nurses? Where was the staff?”

Authorities believe another resident may have been involved in the assault. WOIO reports that staffing is unsafe at the facility. Registered nurses are only spending an average of 18 minutes with each resident per day compared to the national average of 40 minutes per resident.
