Visitation Reports
Visitation reports for nursing homes will help the safety and health of nursing home residents. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) recently issued a public health order. The Order requires nursing homes and community care facilities to submit a weekly report detailing each facility’s current visitation status.
Many residents and their families have complained to DHEC about visitation policy. Implementing visitations fairly have been sporadic and inconsistent. Favoritism is a major problem.
- whether the facility is allowing visitation, and if not, provide the reason(s) for not allowing visitation, and
- the number of residents that participated in a visit in the previous seven day.
This report will be publicly available at scdhec.gov/visitation on Tuesdays beginning Oct. 13. These visitation reports will assist consumers determine the safety of visitations.
