Tragic and Preventable

Cleveland ABC news reported the tragic death of a long term care resident. Frances Washington was found dead outside of Forest Hills Place, an assisted living facility. Where was the supervision?

3News confirmed that the Cleveland Heights Fire Department responded to the scene. At about 8:20 a.m. a Cleveland Heights Fire Department squad was driving nearby. They saw a body on the ground at the corner of the building. The elderly woman was deceased in the elements outside of the facility.

The vulnerable 72 year old woman could not get back into the facility. It is unknown how long she had been outside. In subzero temperatures like during the blizzard, frostbite and hypothermia can set in within minutes. Irreversible within an hour.

Were the facility caregivers even looking for her?  Sad. RIP
