Mail-In Voting
Trump’s Admission
Attacking Post Office
Trump’s new Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, was a major campaign donor to Trump. He controls at least $30 million in XPO Logistics, a private competitor to the USPS. DeJoy participated in insider trading and stock manipulation when he got rid of a large number of shares of Amazon. He knew to sell because Amazon would be hard hit by the disintegration of the USPS. Dejoy is now destroying the Post Office to benefit Trump.
“The idea that you can be a postmaster general and hold tens of millions in stocks in a postal service contractor is pretty shocking,” said former director of the Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub.
Michael Shear is a White House correspondent for The Times. Shear explains: “Basically, two things are colliding,” The number of Americans who plan to vote absentee has spiked during the pandemic. “But at the same time, post office officials who are allies of President Trump are taking actions — like limiting overtime — that seem to be slowing down the mail right before the election.”
We need to protect the integrity of the election results. Anthony Fauci is the nation’s top infectious diseases expert. He encouraged voters to vote by mail. Fauci explained mail-in voting is a great alternative for people who can’t “take the chance” of contracting the coronavirus. Mail-in voting helps nursing home residents and other vulnerable citizens vote. We need to fund the Post Office so the votes are counted.
