LPN Pleads Guilty

WYFF4 reported Kelly Morgan, 37, of Mauldin, pleaded guilty on July 21, 2022. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said the nurse is headed to prison after pleading guilty to several charges. Two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, neglect of a vulnerable adult, unauthorized practice of nursing and furnishing false or fraudulent material information.

Morgan was sentenced to three years in prison suspended to two years’ probation.

Morgan was a licensed practical nurse at an assisted living facility. She chose to neglect residents of the facility and unlawfully stole controlled substances, including oxycodone. Morgan also falsified records for controlled substances and practiced nursing while her license was suspended.

This case was investigated by DHEC’s Bureau of Drug Control, the Fountain Inn Police Department, and the South Carolina Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (SCMFCU). The case was also prosecuted by the SCMFCU.
