Iago in South Carolina

Liz Cheney

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has been all over the place lately. First, he was against Trump. Then he was very vocal about his support for Trump. Now, he has taken both positions at once.  He defended Liz Cheney and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Iago in South Carolina?

He defended Liz Cheney who voted to impeach Trump. Many other South Carolina GOP members of Congress have targeted the congresswoman over her impeachment vote.

“On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic.

“I will vote to impeach the President.”

Then Graham called Cheney a valuable asset to the Republican Party.  Huh?

Marjorie Taylor Greene

Then Graham defended Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene is a Republican congresswoman from Georgia. She defended the acts of insurrection on Jan. 6; promoted numerous conspiracy theories, including QAnon, 9/11 trutherism, and the belief that school shootings were faked.  She denies that a plane hit the Pentagon on 9/11!  Why is Lindsey defending her?

Even Senator Thom Tillis, a North Carolina Republican, wrote on Twitter that Greene’s support for QAnon theories was “not conservative, it’s insane.”

Graham’s critics on the right have used homophobic slurs against the single South Carolina lawmaker. Religious bigots imply that he’s a closeted gay man. His political opponents reference a article that questions Senator Graham’s sexual orientation. The article details evidence by gay porn star Sean Harding against Graham.

Graham said on Fox News that “If there’s an effort… to call a single witness in the United States Senate… there will be delay of this trial, there will be a Pandora’s box being opened. We will want witnesses and this thing will go on for weeks if not months”.

A trial without any witnesses?  Really?
