Biden’s Christmas Gift: Paxlovid

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) provided emergency authorization for an antiviral pill for home use to treat COVID-19 infections. Just in time for Christmas! The Biden Administration committed funds to purchase enough Pfizer pills to treat 10 million Americans.

Pfizer’s drug is called Paxlovid. Clinical trials showed the pill results in a 90 percent reduction in hospitalizations and deaths among patients at-risk for severe infections. Pfizers says side effects are mild.

Paxlovid is authorized for use in adults and children ages 12 and over. The treatment is a cheaper alternative to existing biotech drugs that are too expensive, difficult to produce and administered in a healthcare setting.
