Nursing home advocates fear the Holidays will bring more COVID deaths. Unvaccinated staff are more likely to spread the virus to residents more susceptible to dying. The News & Observer reported tragic news for vulnerable adults in North Carolina. Older adults are vulnerable to COVID-related complications and death.
AARP data shows less than half of nursing home residents in North Carolina are up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines. What’s worse? Only 20% of nursing home staff have all the shots recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pathetic training.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to long-term care facilities earlier this month, encouraging the facilities to increase their booster uptake to protect the state’s “most vulnerable population.”
