Hegseth criticizes allowing women to serve in combat jobs which will have a chilling effect on female troops, who make up nearly 20 percent of the force.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois) asked Pete Hegseth to name the importance of the United States’ agreements with nations in ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Hegseth responded that “we have allies in South Korea and Japan and … Australia,” referencing nations in the IndoPacific.
Duckworth pointed out that none of those nations are in ASEAN.
“I suggest you do a little homework before you prepare for these types of negotiations,” she said.
The Army has struggled to bring in enough soldiers, however, the Biden Administration was able to meet the recruiting goals last year because of an increase in women who joined the ranks.
Former employees who worked with Hegseth at two veterans groups accuse him of financial mismanagement.
