Fugitive v. Whistleblower?
Rolling Stone reported Republican’s alleged “Whistleblower” was charged as an unregistered foreign agent for China. Gal Luft, currently a fugitive, has been charged with violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, arms trafficking, and sanctions violations.
Luft was initially arrested in Cyprus in February, and fled the country after being released on bail.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) has touted Luft as a “missing” whistleblower — who escaped before providing any evidence.
According to the eight-count indictment, Luft is also accused of violating Iran sanctions by setting up meetings between Iranian officials and a Chinese energy company to discuss oil deals.
They think he is credible?
By the way, the word “whistleblower” in government context means someone whose allegations have been found to be credible by an inspector general. No one thinks a fugitive from justice is a whistleblower except Comer.
