Trump Loses Appeal

A New York jury upheld the $83 million verdict that Trump was sued for when he insulted the reputation of the renowned author, E. Jean Carroll.

Carroll originally sued Trump for (defamation of character) when Trump decided to declare to the public that Carroll was never raped. When she sued him for his damaging lies, he started to attack her character more often and even more intensely.  Needless to say, Trump lost this case, then tried to overturn the verdict, and then lost again in the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. His guilt was blatantly obvious, as the three-judge panel wrote in its decision that the “’degree of reprehensibility’ of Mr. Trump’s conduct was remarkably high, perhaps unprecedented.”

The $83 million verdict was chosen in an effort to deter Donald Trump from lying about and damaging the reputation of people who disagree with him.

While Trump may believe he should have dictator-esque immunity, the NY court rejected his argument for “presidential immunity,” maintaining that the basic law still applies to him, as well as every other American.

As Trump seems to trample every barrier set in place to appropriately limit presidential powers, it is at least comforting to see that there are still some American courts still willing to rule against his personal will and subject him to real judicial consequences. Today was a good day for the courts.
