COVID Update

The world surpassed 50 million total cases. The United States reported its 10 millionth coronavirus case on Sunday. Cases soared to shattering records. The U.S. recorded 126,742 cases Saturday alone. The third day in a row the total exceeded 120,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins. The United States accounts for about one-fifth of all reported coronavirus cases in the world despite being only 4% of the world’s population.
The country continues to struggle to contain the spread. The number of Americans hospitalized with Covid-19 has nearly doubled since mid-September. President-elect Joe Biden declared tackling the pandemic “one of the most important battles our administration will face.” President-elect Joe Biden promised to “Get this virus under control.
“President-elect Joe Biden promises to bring competence and experts to the federal government’s pandemic response. He then announced a 12-member Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board. Biden appointed an advisory board of top public-health experts to guide his transition team’s COVID-19 planning.
Biden named Trump’s former surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, and a former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, David Kessler, as co-chairs of a coronavirus working group with other members expected to be announced later today.
Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marc Siegel believes that while masks are “the icing on the physical distancing cake.” He recommends masks should be worn both indoors and outdoors. Biden will work with state and local officials to mandate mask wearing.
